Answer:

In the CBD of Glasgow, there has been decentralisation of functions such as "The Forge" been located in browfield sites, or "The Fort" being located in a greenfield site. Alternate shopping areas such as Braehead have also appeared outwith the CBD to reduce the number of commuters travelling to the city. Areas in the CBD have also been pedestrianised such as Buchannan Street to improve the shopping environment and to reduce the congestion and air pollution. In addition bus and cylce lanes have also been added and improved to encourage the use of public transport. Other improvements to the transport include the and construction of underground services in the lead up to the Commonweath Games. An extension to the M74 is also being built for the same reason. Glasgow itself is being promoted as a tourist destonation and there has been a boom in restaurant numbers in places such as Merchant City, as well as hotel facilities. With this, historical sites and building are being renovated to encourage the tourism.
